Travel Baseball/Travel Sofbtall

Rumson clubs compete in the USABL.  Rumson Travel Baseball/Softball teams are teams authorized by Rumson Recreation, which require selection via a competitive tryout. Playing time in games/tournaments will be influenced by attendance at practice and games, effort, ability, and attitude, and will not necessarily be equal for all players.

Fall 2019/Spring 2020 Tryouts- will be held the first week of August for the 8U, 9U, 10U and 11U teams.  7U will be held in late October.  13U will be held in January of 2019.  Softball tryouts will be held the 1st week of September.  Below are birth ranges for the fall tryouts.  Notice will be sent out approximately 3 weeks prior to the first tryout.

10uSB - Birth Range - 1/1/2009-12/31/2010  

12uSB - Birth Range - 1/1/2007-12/31/2008 

14uSB - Birth Range - 1/1/2005-12/31/2006  -  Tryout is January 13th, 530pm-630pm.

7U - Birth Range - 5/01/2011 - 8/31/2012 

8U - Birth Range - 5/01/2010 - 8/31/2011 

9U - Birth Range - 5/01/2009 - 8/31/2010 

10U - Birth Range - 5/01/2008 - 8/31/2009 

11U - Birth Range - 5/01/2007 - 8/31/2008 

12U - Birth Range - 5/01/2006 - 8/31/2007 

Travel Team Tryout Procedures

• All travel teams are required to have an announced open tryout each year.
• A mid-season tryout may be conducted only if a spot is open. This tryout must be an announced open tryout.
• All tryouts must have a third party evaluator and this must be on record with the Recreation Director.
• A new resident, who moves into town after the tryout or a child who was sick and unable to attend the tryout, may report to the first practice, at which time the coach will determine if that child will be accepted onto the team for that season.
